Against Abortion

Against Abortion is the position of the pro-life movement. The debate over abortion is full of horror stories on both sides of the issue. Unethical and coercive counselors lie to and pressure vulnerable women into making decisions they are unprepared to make. This happens in abortion clinics and pregnancy care centers, as well. Women have died from botched abortions, both before abortion was legal and after. Fanatics on both sides of the issue sometimes resort to violence

Looking at abortion from the pro-life, "Against Abortion" perspective we can consider the following reasons against abortion:

• No civilized society permits one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another human without punishment. Abortion is just such an act.
• Adoption is a viable alternative to abortion and accomplishes the same result. With 1.5 million American families wanting to adopt a child, there is no such thing as an unwanted child.
• Abortion sometimes causes medical complications later in life; risk of ectopic pregnancies doubles and the chance of a miscarriage and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease also increase.
• In cases of rape and incest, proper medical care can ensure a woman will not get pregnant. Abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime; it is the perpetrator who should be punished.
• Abortion should not be used as a form of contraception.
• Unless a victim of violence, a woman has complete control of her body. Control includes preventing the risk of unwanted pregnancy through the responsible use of contraception or abstinence.
• Minors or young women with insufficient life experience are unprepared to understand fully the consequences of choosing to have an abortion. Many regret their decision for the rest of their lives.
• Abortion frequently causes intense psychological pain and stress.
• Life begins at conception, therefore abortion is murder as it is the act of taking an innocent human life.
